Production Supervisor - Structural Steel Division
We are seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead shop operations in a structural steel fabrication environment. This is a hands-on role requiring strong leadership, problem-solving, and mechanical aptitude.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate shop personnel including machine operators, fitters, welders, and shipping/receiving
- Review shop drawings for accuracy and compliance with standards
- Partner with Quality Control and Production Management to address deficiencies and ensure quality
- Enforce safety standards; conduct orientations and weekly toolbox talks
- Train employees on fabrication methods, performance standards, and safety procedures
- Monitor production schedules, manpower, and time tracking; communicate issues to management
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and product quality
- Track production progress and report delays, material issues, or schedule impacts
- Participate in weekly production meetings and daily coordination with management
- Collaborate with internal teams and occasionally with customers
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of supervisory or lead experience in structural steel fabrication (columns, beams, bracing, trusses)
- Strong knowledge of methods, materials, shop equipment, and safety practices of the fabrication process
- Comprehensive knowledge of AISC and AWS standards
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and technical documents (sketches, diagrams, drawings, etc.)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Tekla EPM, and Bluebeam
Required Skills:
- Ability to read/write/speak English
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and perform physical shop duties
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work overtime as needed
- Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check
