Job Summary:The Outside Plant Construction and Splicing Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and oversight of all construction projects and splicing operations though-out the assigned area. Directly plans and supervises construction, installation, maintenance, test and turn-up and repair of copper, coax and fiber optic plant equipment to include various types of fiber transport equipment and fiber optic cables. The supervisor shall have experience organizing work groups, coaching employees, monitoring progress, enforcing company policy and ensuring quality compliance. The supervisor makes sure that project/department milestones and objectives are met while adhering to approved budgets and assuring compliance to federal, state and local regulatory compliance as required.
Qualification Requirements:a. Education: AS degree in a relevant engineering or technology field is desired. Other candidates with a strong technical background and/or substantial industry or military experience will be considered.b. Experience Level: i. 10 or more years of experience in the telecommunications industry is required ii. 7 or more years of experience with fiber construction and installationc. Special Requirements: i. Work aloft up to 50’ in a bucket truck, ladder, or climb utility poles ii. Work in confined spaces (manholes, vaults, etc.) iii. Distinguish between different colors iv. Able and willing to work outdoors and inclement weather v. Ability to work independently and deal tactfully and effectively with the public and staff vi. Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds vii. Valid driver’s license viii. CDL license preferred, but not requiredd. Skill Requirements: i. Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills ii. Excellent written and verbal communication skills iii. Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyIV. Knowledge: i. Microsoft Office Suite Computer skills; Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook ii.
