Job Responsibilities

This supervisory position is responsible for the efficient and economical cleaning and maintenance of a large school building or number of smaller buildings to ensure the clean, safe, and healthy learning environment for students and staff. Responsibilities may include:

• Supervises the performance of cleaning staff and reviews, prioritizes and assigns custodial and maintenance duties on a daily basis;
• Conducts regular inspections of buildings and grounds to maintain proper cleaning and maintenance procedures;
• Checks to ensure that buildings are cleaned, heated, secured, and ready for all activities;
• Responds to requests for cleaning and maintenance support and determines most effective method for solving problems;
• Serves as custodial point of contact for school building cleanliness, including setup and cleanup of functions/events;
• Uses various tools and resources to assist with cleaning, maintenance, work order distribution, employee performance, time and attendance tracking and reports as needed;
• Heavy lifting and moving of furniture and/or equipment is required;
• Maintains positive communications (verbal and written) with a variety of stakeholder groups including students, staff and administration; and additional responsibilities as required.

Compensation & Benefits

Step 1 ($56,779/yr) - Step 7 ($65,078/yr)

Certifications/Qualifications

Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma (GED) and three (3) years of experience in building cleaning and minor maintenance activities; one year of which shall have involved supervisory responsibility. Ability to plan and supervise the work of others, understand and carry out verbal and written directions, and establish and maintain good working relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administration. Solid working knowledge of building cleaning practices and economical and efficient use of supplies and equipment. Exhibits good judgment, mental alertness, dependability, tact, and courtesy. Physical condition commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
