Position Overview
Shenandoah Community School District is seeking a dynamic, student-centered educator to join our high school mathematics department for the 2026-2027 school year. Key Responsibilities
- Instructional Excellence: Deliver high-quality instruction in core subjects such as Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, and Statistics, aligning lessons with Iowa Core standards.
- Student Engagement: Utilize diverse teaching strategies and educational technology to enhance mathematical visualization and personalized learning.
- Assessment & Data: Implement formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress, using data to drive instructional adjustments and interventions.
- Classroom Culture: Establish a positive, inclusive classroom environment built on mutual respect and clear expectations.
- Collaboration: Actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), departmental meetings, and vertical alignment sessions with middle school and post-secondary partners.
- Communication: Maintain proactive and professional communication with parents, guardians, and stakeholders regarding student growth and well-being.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education from an accredited institution.
- Certification: Valid Iowa Teaching License with a 5-12 Mathematics Endorsement (or eligibility to obtain one by August 2026).
- Skills: Strong mastery of high school math content and the ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
- Training: Completion of required Iowa human relations training and mandatory reporter training.
