Summary

 

Underground Class B Lineman will continue Lineman training in the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical underground distribution systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • All duties as performed as a Class C Lineman plus:
  • Can install, maintain, or repair distribution facilities of all types while energized or deenergized without supervision.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and abilities by participating in continuing education activities.
  • Follow safety standards and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience
  1. High school diploma or GED required.
  2. One year of experience as a Lineman C with Shelton Energy or completion of formal training          program with two-year field or verifiable experience elsewhere.
  3. Complete OSHA 10 Safety Training Program within 90 days.
  4. CDL class A license preferred; must acquire CDL beginners permit within 60 days.
  5. Possession of climbing tools preferred.
  6. Ability to read and understand minimum approach distances.
  7. Desire to learn and commitment to doing quality work while putting safety first.

Working conditions/Physical Requirements/Travel

 

  • Working Conditions

 

  1. Work sites are underground in confined space or outdoors in potentially extreme weather conditions.
  2. All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English.
  3. Work includes prolonged and repeated: lifting (including overhead, up to 50lbs); standing; climbing; kneeling; reaching and feeling; crouching and crawling.
  4. Work is performed within the “red zone” of heavy equipment.
  5. Working safely requires quick/accurate hand-eye coordination and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

 

  • Requirements

 

  1. Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens.
  2. Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify.
  3. Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results.
  4. A valid driver’s license with clean driving record is required.
  5. Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as dictated by position.
  6. Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card.

  • Travel required. Ability to work on-call, irregular hours, and emergency response.
