Sheltering Arms Institute is seeking a seasoned Senior IT Systems Administrator to lead and manage the provisioning, configuration, operation, and continuous improvement of our IT infrastructure. This individual will serve as a technical authority for the organization—overseeing enterprise systems, optimizing IT operations, and driving technological strategies aligned with our mission and values. The Senior IT Systems Administrator will be deeply engaged in high-level systems architecture, security planning, and end-to-end lifecycle management, from server to endpoint.

Sheltering Arms Institute is seeking a seasoned Senior IT Systems Administrator to lead and manage the provisioning, configuration, operation, and continuous improvement of our IT infrastructure. This individual will serve as a technical authority for the organization—overseeing enterprise systems, optimizing IT operations, and driving technological strategies aligned with our mission and values. The Senior IT Systems Administrator will be deeply engaged in high-level systems architecture, security planning, and end-to-end lifecycle management, from server to endpoint.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and manage the installation, configuration, and performance of enterprise IT systems (virtual and physical)
- Architect, deploy, and maintain critical infrastructure: VMware, Nutanix, NetApp, Active Directory, O365, and Azure
- Support and maintain core platforms including Windows Server OS, SharePoint, and Lawson ERP
- Serve as escalation point for complex systems issues and resolve advanced technical problems independently
- Administer systems security, user authentication, and access controls in adherence to cybersecurity best practices
- Lead patching cycles, disaster recovery operations, and data backup strategies across all environments
- Evaluate emerging technologies and coordinate with vendors on procurement and integration
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams to ensure IT services meet operational demands
- Create and maintain thorough documentation on configurations, processes, and protocols
- Monitor network and system health, responding proactively to prevent outages and performance degradation
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT systems administration, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead capacity
- Expertise in Windows Server environments, virtualization, and hybrid cloud (Azure)
- Strong working knowledge of core IT concepts: DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, SSL, OSI Model, HTTP/S
- Experience with Microsoft 365 product suite management
- Demonstrated ability to analyze, design, and implement secure and scalable systems architectures
- Proficiency in managing enterprise backup and disaster recovery systems
- Effective communication and leadership skills with a collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset
- Proven success implementing security policies and infrastructure hardening techniques
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline
- Industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, CompTIA Security , VMware VCP, or similar are a plus
