What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Resale Shop Sales Associate position at Shelterhouse?
Job Function:
The Sales Associate works closely with management to enhance the Shelterhouse Resale Shop and Outlet customer experience by providing consistent positive customer service experiences. This position works primarily as cashier and interacts with customers and assists with day-to-day operations. Sales Associate assists Manager on Duty, and in some instances, is available to open/close the shop. This position also works closely with store volunteers and assists in social media communications.
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintains a professional, courteous, and helpful demeanor at all times when working at or representing the Shelterhouse Resale Shop or Outlet.
2. Operates cash register.
3. Meets regularly with store management to coordinate duties.
4. Assists with supervising volunteer staff.
5. Opens and closes store, as required.
6. Assists in managing the merchandise flow within the Shelterhouse Resale Shop and/or Outlet; leads the processes of sorting, pricing, and stocking of donated merchandise.
7. Assists customers in the overall shopping experience.
8. Assists with day-to-day maintenance of the shop from cleanliness to safety.
9. Maintains confidentiality at all times.
10. Adheres to all safety and security policies; identifies and corrects security breaches to assure a safe work environment for shoppers and co-workers.
11. Follows Agency policies and Resale Shop procedures.
12. Answers/Responds/Posts on social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, as requested.
13. Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities to Perform the Job:
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Knowledge of retail sales environment
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
· Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and volunteers.
· Ability to contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks, as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma or GED, must be willing to work a flexible schedule (including evenings and weekends, as required), valid driver’s license, successful completion of all agency required background checks, and reliable transportation. Must have some experience in computer software systems.
