Job Summary:
The Child Nutrition Warehouse Worker supports the school district’s Child Nutrition Program by receiving, storing, and delivering food and supplies to school kitchens. This position ensures accurate inventory management, maintains food safety standards, and assists in the efficient operation of the warehouse to meet the needs of all district sites.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receive and inspect incoming food and supply deliveries for accuracy and quality.
- Store food and supplies according to safety, sanitation, and temperature requirements.
- Accurately fill and deliver school orders based on site requests and menus.
- Maintain organized inventory and assist with regular stock counts.
- Load and unload trucks using appropriate lifting techniques and equipment.
- Rotate stock to ensure proper use of perishable items (FIFO method).
- Keep warehouse, vehicles, and equipment clean, orderly, and in good working condition.
- Maintain delivery logs and inventory records as required.
- Follow all USDA, state, and district guidelines for food handling and storage.
- Assist with kitchen deliveries during peak times or staff shortages as needed.
- Report any shortages, damages, or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly and perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Experience with warehouse, inventory, or food service operations preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures preferred.
- Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:
- Moderate physical activity including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Work performed in warehouse and delivery environments, sometimes in cold or hot conditions.
- May be required to operate delivery vehicles and equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts.
