What’s the role The overall function of the Waste Water & Quality Control Specialist is to be the Product Quality Laboratory liaison to the Waste Water Treatment Plant to ensure environmental testing and controls are in place and to react diligently to excursions and upsets. This position is also responsible for quality control by monitoring and following up on data quality issues to understand root cause. What you’ll be doing Support Activities - Enabling the lab team and broader Product Quality organization through training, communication, and administrative support. Contributes to ISO 9001 accreditation and compliance Implement product quality policies and standards into the site work processes and management system(s) Ensure that testing schedules, product specifications and quality control documents are updated through the management of change process before changes can be implemented Develops, implements, and updates laboratory testing work instructions/procedures Ensures compliance with site health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures Leads and participates in MOC meetings Provides support in other areas of the Product Quality Team as required Monitors QC charts for compliance with GLP Coordinates analytical schedule changes Ensures laboratory services are provided according to the agreed sample schedule, and laboratory procedures & work instructions Technical Support - Ensuring the technical accuracy, quality, and compliance of lab operations. Responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, assurance, calibration, and performance of analytical instrumentation as assigned Monitors and investigates data quality issues and provides feedback for improvement Ensures proper instrumentation history is recorded relating to preventive & reactive maintenance, calibrations, etc. Installs, trains, and implements analytical instrument improvement projects to stay up to date on latest technology Works with the Analytical Chemist to develop new testing methods as needed Recommends new equipment and methodology to meet future needs Develops training tools and trains Lab Technicians in understanding test methods and analytical equipment to perform Level 1 troubleshooting Provides in-depth training for Lab Technicians in addition to the interpretation of test results, sampling, and process knowledge Reviews all non-routine test method results before being released to customers. Assists in evaluation of tester capabilities Supports and drives assurance in proper application of Statistical Tools used by Laboratory Technicians Operations - Day-to-day tasks that ensure the lab runs smoothly and supports production needs. Serves as the Product Quality Laboratory liaison to the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Assists in resolving water quality issues and participates in investigation activities in the event of excursions Is the focal point for environmental testing at site Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and quality standards, including ISO 9001 and site-specific protocols Collaborate with production, quality, and technical teams to resolve product quality issues and support process optimization What we need from you Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis Minimum of an Associate of Science (AS) degree in a scientific discipline; Bachelor of Science (BS) degree preferred Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting, with strong preference for experience in water treatment, environmental testing, or wastewater quality monitoring. Background should include analytical testing, instrumentation troubleshooting, and compliance English proficiency required to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedural manuals and protocols Experience with ISO 9001, statistical quality control (SQC), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., production, quality, technical) Knowledge with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and data integrity standards Knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques, methodology and instrumentation such as Melt Index, Density Gas Chromatography, Mass Spectroscopy, TOC, Inductively Coupled Plasma, XRF, etc. What we offer The base salary range for this position is $84,000 - $126,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity. For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents. Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
