Job Description:
What’s the role
In this position, you will be responsible for performing laboratory tests on chemical products, chemical process streams and/or outfall samples to verify and ensure adherence to manufacturing specifications, process control, product specifications, and compliance parameters. In addition, you will document all tests performed in hard copy format as well as in the electronic management system. You will also be expected to perform routine maintenance on testing equipment and complete housekeeping duties.

What we need from you
Must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without the requirement of a work visa
Minimum of 2 years of experience preferably in a refinery, petrochemical, and/or compliance lab environment
Bachelor’s degree and/or an associate degree is required
Must be at least 18 years old
Must be able to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers
Must currently hold or be able to qualify to receive a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Note, information regarding TWIC qualification standards may be found at https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic

What prior experiences are we looking for
Experience in petrochemical and/or environmental compliance testing methods and equipment including Karl Fischer, automated distillation, Flash Point, Liquid and Gas Chromatography techniques, X-ray fluorescence, TOC, Nitrogen, Sulfur, Ammonia, and Sulfide analysis, pH, Titrations (manual and automated), and UV-Vis Spectrophotometers is preferred
Be versed in the use of Sample Manager/GLIMS, Open Lab, SAP, and Dragon software applications in support of routine testing and reporting
Be versed in the interpretation of SQC charts and applicable run rules
Familiarity with NPDES water testing protocol is a plus
Proficiency in basic chemical lab skills preferred (e.g., weighing, pipetting, titrating, dilutions, metric system, safe lab practices, units conversion, read and understand lab methods, etc.)
Proficiency in basic math skills preferred (e.g., rounding numbers, fractions, percentages, simple statistics, use of hand calculator)
Proficiency in basic chemistry preferred (e.g., pH, acid-base reactions, operating principles of simple lab equipment, recognize chemical formulas)
Experience with personal or laboratory computers preferred (used frequently as a work tool for school or job, data entry, spreadsheet calculations)
A working knowledge of laboratory information management systems and the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) is necessary

The starting pay is $45.55 per hour. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, and internal equity.
For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives. For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
