Staff Accountant – Oceanfront Hotel | Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and personable Staff Accountant to be involved in all accounting and financial operations for a well-established oceanfront hotel and its associated Homeowners Association (HOA) in beautiful Wrightsville Beach, NC. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, a high degree of professionalism, and a commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality in all financial matters. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting functions for both the Hotel and HOA.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements using QuickBooks, including departmental reports, balance sheets, and P&L statements.
- Utilize Resort Data Processing (RDP) to produce property management and financial reports, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
- Process biweekly payroll through Paychex, including reconciliations and journal entries
- Maintain and monitor departmental inventories (housekeeping, maintenance, food & beverage, etc.) and implement controls to ensure reliability.
- Assist with preparation and coordinate the annual external audit, providing auditors with all requested documentation and explanations.
- Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analyses to support management decisions.
- Ensure compliance with all accounting standards and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding all financial data, personnel information, and business operations.
- Collaborate with department heads and ownership to improve financial operations and business performance.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of accounting experience required; 3 years in hospitality or property management preferred.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Payroll processing experience required
- Applicable property management software experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- CPA or CMA preferred.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and generate reports.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate strong professional integrity and the ability to manage sensitive information with the highest level of discretion.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Interest in a long-term role contributing to the success of the property and HOA.
Compensation and Benefits
- $50,000 - $57,000 a year, commensurate with experience.
