Library Technical Assistant II
Employment Status: Full-time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Experience Required: 2 years of experience in technical phases of library work with clerical experience and additional personal computer training.
Minimum Education Requirements: A Library Technical Assistant Degree is required for this position. 1- 2 years of experience with Sirsi/Dynix automated library systems is preferred.
Certification/Licensing: A valid Driver's License
Direct Supervisor: Department Head, and/or Supervisory Employees of Higher Classification
Supervisory Responsibility: None
People Supervised: Direct (0), Indirect (0) May supervise some employees of an equal or lesser classification.
Physical Requirements: Physically mobile and be able to stand, reach, stoop, and lift to perform most duties
Primary Work Location: Office Environment
Job Summary: To perform a variety of specialized office, clerical, typing and record-keeping work in the library; to perform public contact at the circulation desk; to organize and prepare materials for shelf use.
Essential Job Functions
An employee in this position may be called upon to perform any or all of the following essential duties:
- Process and physically prepare materials that have been obtained for the library collection.
- Perform circulation desk duties
- Receive, organize, and create preliminary records of all new acquisitions.
- Order books and AV materials from vendors as instructed by Librarians.
- Order library processing supplies.
- Assist with automated system upgrades.
- Accumulate holdings and circulation statistics monthly and submit to Director.
- Reconcile packing slips with invoices and submit to Librarians.
- Assist in withdrawing books or magazines, as needed.
- Assist in repairing books and magazines, as needed.
- Place orders with publishers and suppliers for library materials.
- Assist patrons in answering routine inquiries, refer other inquires for assistance to the Librarian.
- Withdraw materials for the collection.
- Perform work as required.
