Inside Sales Administrator – Ready-Mix Concrete / Construction Materials

Position Overview

As an Inside Sales Administrator, you’ll help identify projects Shelby Materials should pursue, organize bid information and specifications, support concrete mix submittals, analyze customer activity, and help track quality and service issues.

This is a great opportunity for someone who is organized, analytical, detail-oriented, and interested in the construction industry. You’ll work with multiple departments and develop a strong understanding of both the commercial and technical sides of ready-mix concrete.

Key Responsibilities

Inside Sales & Project Support

• Research upcoming construction projects using bid boards, project invitations, and project lead sources.
• Identify prospective projects and coordinate opportunities with the outside sales team.
• Enter and maintain project information including specifications, drawings, addenda, and other bid documents.
• Assist with reviewing project specifications and identifying concrete requirements.
• Support the preparation of quotes, bids, and project information.
• Learn to prepare concrete mix designs and project submittal packages.
• Analyze customer purchasing history and trends to help identify sales opportunities and changes in customer activity.
• Provide project, customer, and technical information to Outside Sales Representatives as needed.

Quality Control & Data Support

• Gather and maintain aggregate gradations, cement mill test reports, concrete break history, and other technical documentation required for project submittals.

• Track quality and service issues reported by Sales, Dispatch, Quality Control, and Operations.
• Research issues using available information such as delivery tickets, driver information, test results, production records, and order history.
• Track open issues and coordinate with the appropriate departments to ensure timely follow-up.
• Analyze data for recurring trends involving customers, plants, products, or operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent relevant experience will also be considered.
• Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, documents, and multiple software systems.
• Ability to analyze information and identify patterns or inconsistencies.
• Able to manage multiple projects and follow open items through completion.
• Interest in learning concrete mix designs, specifications, construction drawings, and the ready-mix industry.
• Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with multiple departments.

Preferred:

• Experience in construction, construction materials, sales support, estimating, project coordination, or quality control.
• Experience reading construction specifications or drawings.
• Experience with BuildingConnected, Procore, or similar bidding/project management platforms.
• Ready-mix concrete experience or knowledge.
