Shelby County Newsmedia, Inc., an award-winning media company in one of Alabama’s fastest-growing, most affluent counties, has a need for a Marketing Consultant to fill a sales position in an established territory.
As a Marketing Consultant with Shelby County Newsmedia, Inc., you will be responsible for selling digital marketing, print advertising and advertising solutions to local businesses within a given geographic territory. You will participate in revenue generating sales activities, including prospecting, new business development, product demonstrations and proposals to clients. This position will have a strong focus on prospecting and new business development. Familiarity with Birmingham-Metro area is a bonus. Experience in digital advertising is also beneficial.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Aggressively prospect, develop and close leads using a variety of sources
- Work directly with businesses to discuss and understand their needs and then develop customized solutions to drive leads to their business
- Own entire sales process from prospecting to completion of the sale
- Ability to utilize technology to engage clients
- Meet and exceed individual monthly sales goals
- Manage accounts from start to finish

- Strong business development focus, willing to prospect and uncover new digital advertisers and drive to develop opportunities from prospect level through to deal close
- An understanding and passion for the digital world we live in, including social media and digital advertising

- The ability to create solutions that meet the needs of clients and help their businesses grow
- Content creation such as videos and campaigns is a plus
- Relentless persistence in a competitive marketplace
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
- Digital advertising sales is preferred but not required
- Team player with a strong work ethic
- Ability to sell across different media platforms
- Maintain a high level of sales activity each day
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and solid computer skills
Based in the Birmingham-metro area, Shelby County Newsmedia, Inc., publishes three weekly newspapers, 10 lifestyle magazines in Jefferson and Shelby counties, and a variety of websites and other web-based media.
Compensation plan includes base weekly salary, aggressive commission and bonus plan, health/dental insurance, 401(k), paid life and disability insurance, retirement plan, and paid holidays and sick leave.
