What You’d Do in This Role

As a Dog Grooming Assistant, you will work directly alongside the owner helping support the daily operations of the salon.

Responsibilities include:

• Bathing and prepping dogs for grooming appointments
• Blow drying and brushing dogs thoroughly
• Assisting with nail trims, ear cleaning, and prep work
• Maintaining cleanliness throughout the salon
• Sanitizing tubs, kennels, tools, and grooming areas
• Safely handling dogs of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments
• Assisting with additional grooming responsibilities as training and experience grow
• Helping create a calm and positive experience for pets and owners

Physical Requirements

This is a physically active position. Candidates must be comfortable:

• Standing for extended periods of time
• Working around water, hair, barking, and cleaning throughout the day
• Safely lifting, assisting, and handling dogs weighing 50–100 lbs with proper support and technique
• Performing repetitive bathing, drying, brushing, and cleaning tasks

Other Stuff to Know

Shelbs’ Dog Spa currently operates out of a professionally maintained attached garage salon environment. Candidates should be comfortable working in a smaller, hands-on, team-oriented setting while we continue growing and expanding the business.

Grooming or bathing experience is preferred, but not required for the right person. We are willing to train someone with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn.

Pay: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour
