Position Summary

The Warehouse Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving warehouse equipment, facility infrastructure, and building systems to support safe, reliable, and uninterrupted operations.

This role requires a versatile maintenance professional with experience supporting automated material-handling equipment as well as core warehouse infrastructure. The ideal candidate has hands-on technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, powered industrial truck equipment, conveyors, controls, and general facility systems.

The Warehouse Maintenance Technician will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, respond to equipment and facility-related emergencies, document work, and partner closely with Operations, Safety, vendors, and leadership to maintain a safe and productive warehouse environment.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment by following all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and applicable safety standards.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on warehouse equipment, facility infrastructure, and building systems.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain conveyor systems, automated material-handling equipment, and related mechanical and electrical components.
  • Support maintenance and repair of warehouse infrastructure, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, dock equipment, doors, racking, compressors, and other building assets.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical equipment, motors, gearboxes, belts, chains, bearings, rollers, pumps, valves, and pneumatic components.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems and components, including motors, motor starters, relays, contactors, photo-eyes, sensors, solenoids, limit switches, proximity sensors, control panels, and basic relay logic.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and wiring diagrams.
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of powered industrial truck equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, battery charging systems, and related equipment, as qualified and assigned.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, facility emergencies, utility issues, and critical asset failures to minimize operational downtime.
  • Develop and execute work plans for emergency repairs and recurring maintenance issues.
  • Identify equipment reliability concerns and recommend repairs, upgrades, replacement parts, or process improvements.
  • Create, update, and close work orders in the maintenance management system, including labor hours, findings, repairs completed, and parts used.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of maintenance parts, tools, and supplies; notify leadership of replenishment needs.
  • Coordinate as needed with external vendors and contractors performing specialized repairs, inspections, or maintenance services.
  • Partner with Operations, Safety, Facilities, and other stakeholders to schedule maintenance activities with minimal disruption to warehouse operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance workspace.
  • Assist with facility projects, equipment installations, equipment moves, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Support training and knowledge sharing with other maintenance technicians as needed.
  • Move up to 49 pounds and stand, walk, bend, climb, and work in varying warehouse conditions for shifts lasting up to 12 hours, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call or emergency coverage, as business needs required.


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in warehouse, distribution center, manufacturing, industrial, or commercial facilities maintenance.
  • Demonstrated mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance practices for warehouse infrastructure, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general building systems.
  • Experience maintaining or troubleshooting material-handling equipment, conveyors, dock equipment, or automated systems preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, equipment manuals, and mechanical drawings.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements, lockout/tagout, machine guarding, electrical safety, and safe work practices.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and basic electrical testing equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple maintenance requests in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with Operations, Safety, vendors, contractors, and fellow technicians.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with HVAC troubleshooting and basic repair.
  • Experience with commercial or industrial plumbing systems.
  • Experience with powered industrial truck maintenance or forklift repair.
  • Experience with motors, variable frequency drives, conveyors, pneumatic systems, and controls.
  • Experience working with dock levelers, overhead doors, roll-up doors, compactors, balers, and battery charging systems.
  • EPA Universal Certification, electrical certification, HVAC certification, forklift technician certification, or related trade credentials.
  • Experience coordinating or overseeing contractor and vendor maintenance work.
