Responsibilities
- Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, ventilation systems, and refrigeration equipment such as ammonia refrigeration systems.
- Read and interpret schematics, mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, and building automation system (BAS) controls to accurately diagnose issues and implement solutions.
- Conduct electrical diagnostics using tools like ohmmeters to identify faults in wiring or components; repair or replace defective parts accordingly.
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to repair or replace mechanical systems components, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards are met.
- Maintain compliance with EPA regulations by handling refrigerants responsibly and performing required certifications; perform equipment repairs involving welding or other mechanical techniques as needed.
- Collaborate with property maintenance teams to ensure all systems operate smoothly; assist with plumbing tasks related to HVAC/R systems when necessary.
- Document all service activities thoroughly in logs and reports; communicate effectively with team members and clients about system status and recommended actions.
Skills
- Proven construction experience with mechanical systems installation and repair in commercial or industrial settings.
- Service technician experience specializing in HVAC/R systems including air conditioning, refrigeration (including ammonia refrigeration), boilers, and building automation systems.
- Strong understanding of schematics, electrical diagnostics, plumbing, welding techniques, and mechanical systems repair.
- Knowledge of HVAC design principles to optimize system performance; familiarity with HVAC/R equipment repair procedures.
- Certification in EPA refrigerant handling; valid driver’s license for field service operations.
- Mechanical knowledge encompassing boiler operation, appliance repair, property maintenance tasks, and general equipment troubleshooting.
- Ability to operate diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters; experience with field service work involving complex mechanical or electrical repairs.
