What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2026-2027 SY Library Clerk position at Sheely Farms Elementary?
POSITION INFORMATION:
To provide service for a well organized, smoothly functioning library environment in which students can take full advantage of material available.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or hold a teaching or substitute teaching certification.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Types and processes orders, reports, bibliographies, forms, library schedules, letters, catalog cards, and any other items that are associated with the library.
2. Receives books selected for purchase by the librarian.
3. Maintains files of catalog cards, vertical file material, publishers’ catalogs, and any other files associated with the library.
4. Makes simple repairs on damaged books and processes more severely damaged books for repair at the bindery.
5. Prepares current magazines for shelving and maintains the back-number stacks.
6. Assists in the annual inventory of library materials, and the preparation of lists of missing and/or discarded books.
7. Shelves incoming books.
8. Writes notices to homeroom teachers concerning overdue books and collects fine for those books.
9. Maintain current inventory of supplies and suggests items for acquisition as needed.
10. Oversees the general neatness and attractiveness of the library and its displays.
11. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by the Principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ten-month, Full Time Position, beginning salary Grade 3 on the Classified Salary Schedule.
