The Shee Atika Federal (SHF) team is currently looking to hire an existing college student or recent graduate to participate in a 10-week paid summer internship program. This position offers interns the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside IT professionals, applying classroom knowledge to tackle real-world challenges. Interns will finish the role with a sense of achievement and an understanding of the importance of task prioritization.
As a Cybersecurity Intern, you will build on your academic studies by gaining hands-on experience in:
Requirements
Candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of higher academic experience.
Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
Recent grad or current enrollment in a Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or IT-related degree program with GPA of 2.0
Willingness to follow instruction and learn as well as be available for agreed upon work hours.
Candidates should demonstrate academic exposure to core cybersecurity and computer science topics, including:

As a Cybersecurity Intern, you will build on your academic studies by gaining hands-on experience in:
- Shadowing cybersecurity professionals to see how classroom concepts (risk management, vulnerability assessment, incident response, and cloud security) are applied in real DoD environments.
- Supporting a development lab by configuring virtual machines, installing tools, and maintaining test environments.
- Assisting with identity and access management tasks such as account setup, permissions, and role assignments in cloud systems.
- Setting up and securing cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI) similar to classroom cloud labs but mapped to mission needs.
- Practicing secure coding and version control by supporting development teams with GitHub, code review, and vulnerability scanning.
- Performing basic audits of cloud and system usage to learn how compliance with policies is measured.
- Helping to document cybersecurity processes and suggesting improvements based on lessons learned from coursework and labs.
- Observing and contributing to continuous monitoring activities such as log review, patch tracking, and system updates.
Requirements

- Coursework or hands-on projects in areas such as networking, operating systems, or information assurance.
