Job Title: Offset Pressman Assistant
Sheboygan Paper Box Company is looking for a dependable and mechanically inclined Offset Pressman Assistant to join our Print Department. This role provides the opportunity to build and develop your skills in offset printing through hands-on training and real-time production experience.
Working alongside experienced press operators, you will assist with press setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting while contributing to the production of high-quality products. This position offers a clear path for growth within the printing operation.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with the setup (make-ready) and operation of offset printing presses
- Maintain and clean the feeder end of the press
- Perform lubrication and routine maintenance procedures
- Support housekeeping efforts in the press area
- Prepare materials for production runs, including feeder setup and load preparation
- Operate or learn Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIV) to move materials
- Complete required production and inventory paperwork
- Assist with cleaning, replacing, and maintaining press components (blankets, rollers, anilox rollers, etc.)
- Inspect printed materials for color accuracy, defects, and quality issues (in partnership with press operators)
- Communicate effectively with press crew members and ask questions to build knowledge
- Provide coverage support for higher-level press roles as skills develop
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Training & Development
As part of your progression, you will gain experience in:
- Ink and water balance and troubleshooting
- Plate preparation, bending, and registration
- Advanced maintenance procedures
- Ink and coating selection and application
- Installation and calibration of press components
What We’re Looking For
- Prior manufacturing experience; printing experience is a plus
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to learn complex machinery and production processes
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
