Production, Quality & Process Improvement

  • Oversee daily operations to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and productivity goals are consistently achieved.
  • Review job layouts and specifications to identify potential production issues before jobs reach the pressroom, including die specifications, rule heights, hand cuts, counters, and nicking patterns.
  • Maintain final departmental quality approval responsibilities while ensuring compliance with established Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Monitor departmental performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement solutions that improve efficiency, reduce waste, and support on-time delivery.
  • Participate in daily production planning meetings and scheduled operations, safety, and labor-management meetings.
  • Coordinate with Production Planning, Pre-Press, Quality, Sales, and other manufacturing departments to resolve issues and ensure smooth workflow.

Equipment, Tooling & Inventory Management

  • Oversee preventive maintenance schedules, maintenance logs, equipment repairs, and timely resolution of machine issues while managing costs within budget.
  • Manage die tooling orders, die maintenance, and the inventory of materials, machine parts, and supplies needed to support both departments.
  • Ensure equipment, tooling, and departmental resources are maintained and available to meet production demands.
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on support to employees when troubleshooting equipment, tooling, or production challenges.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure departmental operations comply with company safety policies, standard operating procedures, quality requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Promote safe work practices through consistent communication, follow-up on safety observations, and employee accountability.
  • Support compliance with applicable food safety and manufacturing standards.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of structural design and pre-press functions, including sample room and die room operations.
  • Experience leading, training, and developing employees in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing safety requirements and OSHA regulations preferred.
  • Food safety or AIB compliance experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Bobst die cutters is a plus.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
