You’ll play a key role in ensuring rapid, coordinated responses to emergencies—supporting law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, and more.
What You’ll Do
As a Dispatcher, you will:
- Respond to 911, TXT-2-911, and non-emergency calls using a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Prioritize and dispatch police, fire, EMS, and other emergency personnel based on established protocols.
- Maintain real-time communication with field units and track their status and location.
- Coordinate multi-agency responses during major incidents, including fire and EMS calls using MABAS protocols.
- Operate and monitor multiple systems including:
- Digital 800 MHz radio system
- Wisconsin TIME System
- NCIC and CIB databases
- Process inquiries for driving records, warrants, vehicle registrations, and other law enforcement data.
- Deliver pre-arrival Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) instructions when needed.
- Ensure data accuracy and compliance with confidentiality and system security policies.
What You Bring
- Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Eligibility for certification in:
- Advanced TIME System
- Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD)
- CPR
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to stay composed and make sound decisions under pressure
- Team-oriented with the ability to work independently
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
- Willingness to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Preferred:
- Previous experience in emergency communications, public safety, or related fields
- Familiarity with Sheboygan County geography and local emergency protocols
