What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laser Assembly Specialist (1st Shift) position at Sheaumann Laser, Inc.?
The Laser Assembly Specialist I is responsible for performing a variety of precision optical and mechanical assembly operations on microscopic laser components using specialized tools, equipment, and microscopes.
This is an entry-level position with on-site training provided. Prior laser manufacturing experience is not required. Work is performed in a clean, climate-controlled manufacturing environment while wearing cleanroom garments.
Due to the nature of our work and applicable U.S. export control regulations, applicants must be authorized to access export-controlled information and therefore must qualify as a U.S. Person under U.S. law.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Tasks are assigned based on individual aptitude, training, and business needs and may include:
- Processing, sorting, and inspecting laser diode bars, chips, and related components.
- Fabricating laser diode assemblies through processes such as solder mounting, wire bonding, lens alignment and attachment, fiber splicing, and connectorization.
- Inspecting, preparing, testing, and documenting laser diode assemblies and related components.
- Following established work instructions, manufacturing procedures, and quality standards.
- Using computer systems to review work orders, access production documentation, and record time, inspection results, and production data.
- Maintaining accurate production and quality records.
- Identifying and recommending process improvements to supervisors and management.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.
- Ability to manipulate small, delicate components while working under a microscope.
- Good close vision and depth perception.
- Ability to follow written procedures and work instructions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and reliability.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with consistent quality.
- Basic computer skills.
- Comfortable wearing full cleanroom attire, including a hood, during the workday.
Preferred
- Experience in electronics assembly, semiconductor manufacturing, medical device manufacturing, precision assembly, laboratory work, jewelry repair, or other detail-oriented manufacturing environments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work under a microscope for extended periods.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand movements and fine motor tasks throughout the shift.
- Ability to remain seated or stationary for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to distinguish small visual features and defects on microscopic components.
