Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, efficiently managing patient intake and registration processes
- Obtain and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and vision measurements with accuracy and compassion
- Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures, ensuring aseptic technique is strictly followed to prevent infection
- Prepare patients for eye tests by explaining procedures clearly and ensuring their comfort throughout the visit
- Maintain detailed medical records using electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or other EMR platforms, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times
- Support optical services by assisting with frame selection, lens measurements, and retail sales activities to enhance patient satisfaction
- Manage front desk duties including scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and handling patient inquiries efficiently
- Perform basic medical coding and billing tasks related to ophthalmology services to support clinic operations
- Ensure clinic cleanliness and proper sterilization of instruments following aseptic protocols
- Collaborate with team members to improve workflow processes and deliver outstanding patient care experiences
Experience
- Prior experience in medical office settings or ophthalmology clinics is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health and vision care
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for documentation and record management
- Experience with optical equipment, eye testing procedures, or optometry-related tasks is a plus
- Background in retail sales or customer service demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills for patient interactions
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality and privacy of patient information
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
