Location: Shawnee Weekday Early Learning Center
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM (Additional hours available for classroom coverage, if desired)
Position Summary: The Kitchen Assistant supports the Cook in planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals and snacks for children in a childcare setting. This position ensures that all food service complies with USDA guidelines, meets safety standards, and promotes the health and well-being of the children. Responsibilities also include maintaining a clean and organized kitchen, assisting with inventory and food ordering, and fulfilling duties as outlined in the Shawnee Weekday Early Learning Center Staff Handbook. In the absence of the Cook, the Kitchen Assistant will oversee kitchen operations.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- CPR and First Aid Certification (can be completed upon hire)
- Food Handling Certification (can be completed upon hire)
- Must successfully pass:
- BCI and FBI background checks
- A 10-panel drug screen
- A physical examination
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ohio Person in Charge (PIC) Certification in Food Protection
(formerly known as Level One Certification). If not currently certified, you must be willing to complete the training—provided at SWELC’s expense.
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
