Role Description The Finance & Payroll Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Overland Park, KS, responsible for overseeing district-wide payroll operations and related financial processes. This role manages end-to-end payroll cycles, ensures accurate and timely payments, and maintains compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Daily responsibilities include supervising payroll staff, reviewing and approving payroll runs, reconciling payroll accounts, and coordinating with HR on employee records and benefits. The manager analyzes payroll data, responds to employee inquiries, resolves discrepancies, and prepares reports for leadership and external auditors. This role also contributes to process improvements, supports budgeting and forecasting, and implements best practices to maintain efficient, transparent financial and payroll operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; professional certifications in payroll or finance are an asset.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of public school education and the ability to apply them to the needs of the district.
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with the students, staff, and community.
- Knowledge and ability to utilize appropriate technology.
- Ability to collaborate with team members to implement the district’s strategic plan and engage in solution building.
- Three to five years experience in payroll processing, supervision, and ERP experience.
- Proficient knowledge of Excel and BusinessPlus desirable.
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Payroll Administration and Payroll Management, including end-to-end processing and oversight.
- Candidates should possess demonstrated experience with Garnishments and Payroll Taxes, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
