Summary :
The District Attendance Specialist will serve as a liaison between students, families, and school teams to facilitate positive student attendance.
The Specialist cooperates with representatives from social services and law enforcement agencies in cases of mutual interests.
The Specialist will manage all associated paperwork, arrange for educational facilitators, connect families with needed community resources and provide for follow-up monitoring of students identified as needing support for chronic absenteeism.

Essential Functions
Communicates and works effectively and cooperatively with members of the school district and community to promote student attendance.
Collaborates with school attendance teams to determine student attendance barriers and design attendance plans.
Works effectively with chronically absent as well as truant students and their families.
Demonstrates energy and enthusiasm toward creating an effective program that reduces non-attendance.
Collaborates with school Counselors, Social Workers and community resources to develop educational programs for students and their parents.
Connects families struggling with attendance with appropriate school and community resources.
Manages case files and keeps records timely and accurately.
Organizes, plans, and administers a variety of activities.
Learns about the juvenile justice system, truancy laws, school district policies and attendance programs.
Works creatively to initiate a new program.
Accurately and timely completes all paperwork associated with the District Attorney’s office.
Organizes the monitoring of students in the Attendance Program.
Ensures a continuous program of identification, training and monitoring of chronically absent / truant students.
Observes and follows all school district policies.
Responds to information requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner.
Maintains confidentiality with all student and personnel information and records.
Implements and follows all District health and safety policies, including all precautions of the Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan.
Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as directed by supervisor or other administrators as needed.
Qualification Requirements : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office (after employment offer is made.)
Experience in using various computer software applications, specifically filtering data, as well as various office machines and telecommunications equipment.
Education
Associate’s degree or above in a field related to social work, public administration, law, or education; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Language Skills :
Strong oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to articulate a clear and consistent message to multiple constituencies.
Public speaking ability required.
Multilingual skills preferred.
Other Skills and Abilities :
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required and student management software preferred.
Ability to work evenings and / or early mornings as needed.
Regular travel, locally as needed.
Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and be able to provide own transportation to work sites.
