Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in patient care and medical office operations, with experience across various healthcare settings. This role is essential in providing high-quality support to our medical staff and ensuring exceptional patient experiences.
Responsibilities
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and conducting basic laboratory tests.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems effectively for patient data management.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and answering questions.
- Assist with phlebotomy and specimen collection as needed.
- Support patients with activities of daily living, particularly in senior care environments including assisted living and nursing homes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care for patients, including those with developmental disabilities or dementia.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the medical office or clinic environment.
Qualifications
- Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program is required.
- Experience in critical care, hospital medicine, or emergency medicine is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, or other EHR systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support techniques.
- Previous experience in long-term care settings such as hospice care, geriatrics, or memory care is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations including pediatrics and individuals with disabilities.
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient service are essential.
