What are the responsibilities and job description for the NEWS REPORTER position at Shaw Media?
Shaw Local News Network, the publisher of The Daily Journal in Kankakee is looking for a news reporter to share stories in print and broadcast mediums for the Kankakee area.
About This Opportunity:
The ideal applicant will be someone with a passion for local news with an ability to create and share stories for digital, broadcast and print platforms.
The reporter will be expected to generate many of their own story ideas and field assignments from editors. They will be expected to cover breaking news and write relevant community news stories with an eye toward enterprise.
Ideal candidates will have a clear understanding of the importance of social media in serving our audience and the ability to write clear, concise copy.
Requirements:
- A college degree in journalism or related field
- Some experience or knowledge in broadcast journalism
- Ability to shoot photographs and video as required
- One-year professional reporting experience
- Solid knowledge of AP Style and grammar
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license, dependable transportation, and proof of insurance
