Lead Maintenance Worker - 8 hours /day - Long Term Substitute

LEAD MAINTENACE WORKER DISTRICT FARM Under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance & Operations, to perform a variety of tasks involved in the operation and maintenance of an agricultural school farm; to keep an assigned area clean, sanitary, safe and orderly; operation the farm facilities and to perform related duties as required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Maintains floors, windows, tables, walls, fixtures and restrooms in a clean and orderly fashion; maintains and repairs barns, pens and corrals; plants, prunes, waters and fertilizes farm crops; sprays weeds and cultivates crops; mows and waters lawn; uses a variety of farm equipment; repairs, installs and maintains plumbing and irrigation systems; feeds and assists in the handling of all farm livestock; makes repairs and replacements to electrical systems; performs mechanical maintenance/repairs on all farm equipment; irrigates pastures; does simple construction of farm buildings; performs skilled painting work in protecting and decorating the surfaces of buildings; performs both skilled and unskilled tasks related to a variety of building and equipment maintenance needs which may include welding, cement work, electrical, plumbing, construction, changing and repairing of keyed and combination locks, furniture moving, and related activities; orders supplies; keeps records; oversees work performance of students; participates in routine gardening and custodial operations; performs specialized projects on a seasonal basis as necessitated by farming requirements. Must know how to operate all farm equipment in a safe and orderly manner. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent to high school diploma or GED. Experience in Agricultural field preferred. KNOWLEDGE OF Methods, materials and equipment used in cleaning and maintaining buildings and grounds; Safety related to cleaning methods, practices and equipment; use and care of farm tools and equipment; planting of farm crops and care of farm stock. ABILITY TO Learn school seasonal farm schedules and procedures; make repairs on equipment and buildings; perform heavy manual labor; maintain accurate records; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. LICENSES A valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's License.
