Purpose The job of Site Facilitator - After School Program is done for the purpose/s of providing site coordination, communications with school personnel, instructional leadership, supervision, and record keeping functions at a school site participating in an after school academic and enrichment program. This job reports to Assigned Administrator/Supervisor.  Essential Functions
  • Assists with the design of staff development trainings and curriculum activities for the purpose of supporting the academic intent of the after school grant of providing instruction in academic areas, character building, enrichment, behavior, and recreational physical activities.
  • Consults with administrators, teaching staff, recreation specialists, community members, and project liaisons for the purpose of improving the content of after school instructional curriculum, academic time and recreational activities in support of the school's instructional program and individual students’ needs.
  • Coordinates with parents or legal guardians of after school program for the purpose of communicating student's achievements, attendance, student participation, concerns, behavior, temporary or on-going medication dispensing needs or other parent/student needs and concerns.
  • Coordinates meetings with administration, project management, project liaisons, custodial staff, volunteers and teaching staff regarding after school curriculum, academic, enrichment, and recreation activities for the purpose of providing effective after school activities that address individual student needs.
  • Models conversation, manners, expectations, communication skills, etc. for the purpose of demonstrating appropriate social and interpersonal behavior for site staff.
  • Monitors and advises staff for the purpose of offering recommendations concerning appropriate instructional methods for leading appropriate academic, enrichment and recreation activities.
  • Oversees all site-based personnel, students, staff and volunteers for the purpose of providing adequate supervision of students through the use of positive strategies and techniques in enrichment and academic activities, meal service (food or snack), and arrival and departure of children.
  • Participates in a variety of meetings for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of records and files (e.g. MOUs, attendance, anecdotal records, time sheets, student progress reports, monthly newsletters, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting objectives of the grant and its mandated requirements.
  • Responds to emergency situations in a calm, capable and sensitive manner for the purpose of administering first aid as needed and resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. site liaisons, parents, administrators, instructional staff, custodial staff, recreation and parks staff, Federal Program Monitoring staff, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or direction or refers inquiries to their Area Coordinators.
  • Serves as Site Liaison when needed for the purpose of ensuring adequate staffing for the after school program in compliance with the grant guidelines.
  • Substitutes as After School Program staff when needed for the purpose of ensuring adequate staffing for the after school program in compliance with the grant guidelines.
  • Works with students for the purpose of improving performance, health, and assists student development of problem solving techniques and a variety of personal issues.
  Other Functions
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications      Skills, Knowledge and Abilities SKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; controlling and motivating students; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.  KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: appropriate codes, policies, regulations and/or laws; age appropriate activities; lesson plan requirements; stages of child development; academic, enrichment and recreational instructional strategies; and behavioral management strategies.  ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities, meetings, and/or events; gather and/or collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: establishing and maintaining constructive relationships; communicating with diverse groups; adapting to changing work priorities; maintaining confidentiality; exhibiting tact and patience; working as part of a team; managing a group of 20 students without assistance; and working with constant interruptions. Responsibility Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is some opportunity to impact the organization’s services. Work Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing.  The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment. Experience:              Job related experience is required. Education:               Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area. Equivalency:            Incumbents in this classification must be compliant with the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) by meeting at least one of the following requirements: 1) pass the Paraprofessional Exam administered by the Shasta County Office of Educations; 2) possess an Associate’s Degree or higher or 3) completion of 48 semester units of college level coursework from an accredited institution. Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and sufficient education, training and experience that demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described. Preferred qualifications include an A.A./A.S. degree, at least two years of a recognized college or university coursework, enrollment in a teaching credential program, or at least three years’ experience in education and supervision.  The stated education and experience requirements are the preferred minimum qualifications for this job. However, relevant experience to substitute for the education requirement and relevant education, certificates and/or licenses to substitute for the experience requirement may be allowed.  Required Testing:                                                                Certificates and Licenses                                                                                              Valid California Driver’s License
