Summary/Objective: An employee working as Janitor with Shasta Cascade Health Centers cleans McCloud Healthcare Clinic and the administrative building (the Annex) to insure a pleasant and hygienic environment for patients and staff, in compliance with state regulations and Clinic policies. Cleaning should be performed outside of clinic operating hours, following each day of operation.
Essential Functions:
Using predefined cleaning methods and procedures, a Janitor working with the Clinic:
- Mixes appropriate quantities of cleaning liquids and chemicals in accordance with state safety regulations and Clinic policies.
- Cleans and disinfects exam and treatment rooms, including front of cabinets and base of exam tables.
- Cleans and disinfects Clinic lab equipment, front of cabinets and chair(s).
- Cleans and disinfects nurses' stations including refrigerator, sink and cabinet fronts.
- Disinfects telephones, keyboards, mouse and workstations.
- Cleans and disinfects restrooms, including fixtures and toilets.
- Dusts common areas and disinfects countertops.
- Sweeps and mops floors in all clinic areas and offices.
- Vacuums carpets in waiting rooms and office areas.
- Cleans and disinfects staff kitchen area.
- Empties trash.
- Sweeps and removes any trash at building entrances
- Cleans windows on a monthly basis.
- Cleans and disinfects staff refrigerator and freezer on a monthly basis.
- Cleans baseboards, doors and walls on a monthly basis.
- Maintains a clean and organized storage area for cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Insures that cleaning supplies needed to perform janitorial duties are maintained by alerting the Facilities Manager of supplies needed.
- Insures that equipment used to perform janitorial duties is maintained by alerting the Facilities Manager of any supplies, repairs or replacements needed to operate equipment effectively.
- Ability to disarm and arm the alarm system arrival and exit.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Maintain operations by following the Clinic's policies and procedures, and report perceived need/s for changes.
- Provide the highest level of service to clients.
- Maintain confidentiality by following all applicable HIPAA regulations.
- Respect Clinic equipment used to perform job tasks.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office as well as a medical and/or dental clinic environment with potential exposure to blood and body fluids and other hazardous substances.
Travel:
No travel is expected for regular job duties. Travel may occasionally be required for training purposes or events. If personal vehicle is used for specified job-related errands or travel to/from training events, mileage will be reimbursed as specified in the Employee Handbook.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, Certifications, Licenses and Registrations:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years' experience working in a related position.
- Ability to complete all required safety classes including annual Blood Borne Pathogens and HIPAA classes.
- Ability to incorporate OSHA/CalOSHA requirements for cleaning Health Care Clinics with guidance from the Clinic's Chief Operations Officer.
Skills and Competencies:
Ethical conduct, flexibility, initiative, ability to multi-task, time management, organized and detail orientated.
