In additional we have premier locations in Downtown Portland, OR and Glendale, CA. Our portfolio includes four Marriott Aloft hotels, four Hyatt branded hotels, the boutique Nest Palo Alto, and our brand-new Shashi Hotel, an upscale urban resort in Mountain View.

Shashi Hotel Group is currently searching for an Event Manager to support our 10-hotel portfolio to join our growing team. 

The Event Manager will report directly to the Director of Sales to meet the topline revenue goals for Shashi Group.

Event Manager Summary

The Event Manager is responsible for event documentation and coordination with Sales, hotel departments and customers to ensure consistent, high level customer service throughout the pre-planning, event operation, and post-event phases of all hotel events. The Event Manager recognizes opportunities to maximize revenue by upselling and offering enhancements to create outstanding meetings and events. Serve as the customer’s primary contact following turnover and on property and is responsible for customer experience.

Position Summary

The Event Manager is responsible to:

Establish and maintain a positive, professional relationship with clients through effective, accurate, timely, and reliable communication and action via telephone, email, written documents or in person.

Understand and identify the requirements for each event, outlining in BEOs and other documents to communicate details to hotel.

Create and maintain relationships with clients to set and meet client expectations and deliver on those expectations.

Demonstrate knowledge of job systems, products, booking systems, and processes.

Know property layout, policies, procedures, and all capabilities.

Resolve conflicts and negotiate with others while handling complaints, settling disputes, and resolving grievances and conflicts.

Make decisions and solve problems by analyzing and evaluating the issues and determine the best solution.

Participate in customer site inspections and assist with the sales process as necessary.

Be onsite at a variety of hotel locations to oversee and manage event operations.

Required Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Degree/GED

Minimum of 2 years’ experience in catering or events within the hospitality industry.

Requires ability to move quickly and frequently throughout the property several times a day.

Writing:  Communicating effectively in writing based on needs of client.

Reading Comprehension:  Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in business documents.

Oral Comprehension:  Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through conversation.

Basic Computer Skills:  Using basic computer hardware and software (e.g. personal computers, word processing software, internet browsers, hotel PMS systems, etc.)

Customer Service:  Knowledge of principles and processes for providing superior customer service.

Basic Arithmetic:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly.

Creativity:  Ability to come up with creative ways to resolve issues.
