Position Summary:
The Project Manager – Vendor Relations plays a critical role in ensuring the successful onboarding, ongoing management, and optimization of relationships with our Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) and Third-Party Administrator (TPA) partners. Collaborating closely with the Vendor Relationship Manager, this individual will own day-to-day execution, coordination, and communication across external and internal stakeholders. This role is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented project manager who excels at managing multiple workstreams, driving accountability, and improving processes in a fast-paced, partner-driven environment. Success requires effective communication skills, project leadership capability, and familiarity with healthcare benefits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Own the day-to-day project management for PBM and TPA partner relationships, collaborating closely with the Vendor Relationship Manager.
- Support onboarding and implementation activities for new PBM and TPA partners, coordinating timelines, deliverables, and key stakeholders.
- Plan and facilitate recurring partner touch-base meetings, including agenda development, status updates, reporting review, and issue resolution.
- Track, manage, and drive resolution of partner issues and action items, escalating risks and dependencies as appropriate.
- Provide clear, concise reporting and updates to internal stakeholders on partner performance, risks, and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure procedural documentation, lists, and processes remain current and aligned with operational needs.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, consistency, and scalability across PBM and TPA partnerships.
- Support cross-functional teams on partner-related initiatives and problem-solving.
- Establish, maintain, and monitor performance standards/KPIs.
- Lead end‑to‑end project management for vendor‑related initiatives, including onboarding projects, system integrations, workflow optimization, and new product or service rollouts.
- Translate business requirements into project scopes, timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain project plans and status reports.
- Support change management efforts, ensuring vendors and internal teams adopt updated processes and understand impacts to operational areas.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement and partnership accountability.
- Ensure compliance with company policies while protecting sensitive client and partner information.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 3-5 years of project management, vendor management, or related healthcare operations roles.
- Experience working with PBMs, TPAs, health plans, or healthcare vendors strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously with structured workflows and strong documentation.
- Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working independently in an individual contributor role with accountability for outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to set performance standards, guide partner expectations, mitigate risks, and resolve issues promptly.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Experience in process improvement, workflow design, and cross‑functional coordination.
- Proficiency in Salesforce and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel required).
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of relevant experience in vendor management, project management, healthcare operations, or PBM/TPA environments.
- 2 or more years of relevant experience working directly with PBMs, TPAs, or healthcare services organizations.
