Sharpe Engineering & Equipment is seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer – Industrial Systems to support the design, development, and execution of critical mechanical utility systems for industrial and food & beverage processing environments.
This hands-on engineering role will focus on boiler systems, steam distribution, hot water systems, and glycol-based cooling systems, taking projects from concept through design, equipment specification, installation, and commissioning. You’ll play a key role in delivering reliable, efficient, and high-performing systems that support complex operations.
In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with internal engineering teams, project managers, vendors, and clients—helping bring technically sound, practical solutions to life while supporting Sharpe’s commitment to quality and operational excellence.
Mechanical System Design (Primary Focus)
- Design and support industrial boiler systems, steam and condensate systems, hot water heating systems, and glycol cooling systems
- Perform load calculations, heat transfer analysis, and equipment sizing
- Develop PFDs, P&IDs, system layouts, and detailed equipment specifications
- Select and specify boilers, heat exchangers, pumps, expansion tanks, and control systems
- Design systems with a focus on reliability, efficiency, and long-term performance
Project Execution & Technical Support
- Execute engineering work aligned with project scope, schedule, and budget
- Prepare and review equipment specifications and vendor submittals
- Provide technical problem-solving and design recommendations
- Support installation, commissioning, field testing, and troubleshooting
- Collaborate across engineering disciplines and project teams
Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure compliance with ASME, NFPA, and applicable industry standards
- Maintain accurate documentation and revision control
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering standards and workflows

What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
- 3–5 years of experience with industrial mechanical systems (boilers, steam, hydronic, or glycol systems)
- Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments preferred
- EIT preferred; PE is a plus
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of steam systems, hydronic heating, and glycol cooling systems
- Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, Plant 3D, or similar design tools
- Ability to develop and interpret PFDs and P&IDs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Soft Skills
- Strong problem-solving and engineering judgment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
