We are currently seeking to fill a full-time Welder position at our Romeo facility on 1st shift. The Welder is responsible for producing high-quality welds on precision tooling, fixtures, fabricated assemblies, and structural components in accordance with engineering drawings, welding procedures, and company quality standards.
General Description
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, welding symbols, work instructions, and welding procedure specifications.
- Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment safely and efficiently.
- Perform MIG, TIG, Stick, and flux-cored arc welding as required by the job and welding procedure.
- Weld components and assemblies to required dimensions, tolerances, appearance, and quality standards.
- Review parts prior to welding to verify fit-up, alignment, material condition, and readiness for welding.
- Select proper welding methods, filler materials, shielding gases, and weld parameters based on material type and job requirements.
- Inspect completed welds for defects, including undercut, porosity, cracking, incomplete fusion, distortion, and other nonconforming conditions.
- Use grinders, hand tools, power tools, and other finishing equipment to prepare and finish weldments as required.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, and finished-component quality using precision measuring instruments.
- Collaborate with fitters, engineers, machinists, and other team members to troubleshoot and resolve welding or fabrication challenges.
- Maintain continuity between work shifts by documenting completed work, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Follow all company safety procedures, including required use of personal protective equipment, and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Ensure all work meets company quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry regulations.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Capable of becoming certified to GTAW, GMAW, and FCAW welding processes to applicable industry standards.
- Proven experience as a welder in a manufacturing, tooling, automotive, aerospace, defense, or fabrication environment.
- Strong ability to read and work from complex blueprints, drawings, schematics, welding symbols, and welding procedure specifications.
- Experience welding precision components, fabricated structures, tooling, fixtures, or similar assemblies.
- Knowledge of welding-related distortion control, weld sequencing, joint preparation, and material characteristics.
- Ability to inspect work and verify dimensions using precision measuring instruments.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing consistent, high-quality welds.
- Strong problem-solving skills and team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to navigate CATIA software is a plus.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience sufficient to successfully perform job expectations.
- 5 years of welding experience in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, tooling, or a related environment preferred.
- Current or prior welding certifications in GTAW, GMAW, and/or FCAW.
- This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements; therefore, it is required that the candidate must be a “US Person” as defined by 22.C.F.R. §.
