Sharp Tool Manufacturing is looking for an Assistant Quality Manager who wants to build a long-term career in aerospace manufacturing.
This is not simply an inspection position. We are looking for the right person to train and develop alongside our experienced Quality Manager, with the opportunity to eventually progress into the Quality Manager role as part of our long-term succession plan.
You don't need to know everything on day one. We're willing to invest in and train someone who has the right attitude, mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, communication skills, and desire to grow into a leadership position.
What You'll Do & Learn
Working directly with our Quality Manager, you'll progressively learn and take responsibility for:
- Precision dimensional inspection
- Reading engineering drawings and applying GD&T
- CMM operation and programming
- PC-DMIS
- AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI)
- Ballooned drawings and FAI documentation
- AS9100D and ISO 9001 quality systems
- Material certifications and traceability
- Nonconformance documentation and disposition
- Root-cause analysis and corrective actions
- Calibration and inspection equipment control
- Customer-specific quality requirements
- Developing inspection plans
- Internal and external audit preparation
- Communicating quality issues with machinists, management, customers, and suppliers
As your knowledge and experience increase, you'll take on greater responsibility for the daily operation and management of the Quality Department.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who:
- Wants a long-term career in manufacturing and quality
- Has excellent attention to detail
- Is organized, dependable, and willing to learn
- Has strong problem-solving skills
- Is comfortable with computers and technical documentation
- Communicates well with both shop personnel and customers
- Has an interest in developing into a leadership and management position
CMM experience is a strong plus, particularly experience operating or programming a Coordinate Measuring Machine. PC-DMIS experience is especially valuable.
Experience with CNC machining, dimensional inspection, GD&T, AS9100, ISO 9001, AS9102 FAI, or aerospace manufacturing is also a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.
Education in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Engineering, Quality, Machining, Manufacturing, or a related field is beneficial but not required for the right candidate.
Long-Term Career Opportunity
We are specifically looking for someone interested in growing with our company.
The intended career path is:

Advancement will be based on demonstrated knowledge, ability, leadership, performance, and readiness to take on additional responsibility.
