What You Will Do
To provide direct and indirect nursing services to patients and families.
Per Diem Shift Requirements
(Minimum 4 shifts per 4 weeks, including two weekend shifts, or 1 weekend shift and 1 Friday shift or 1 Monday shift, and is available to work at least one major and minor holiday per year) - Weekends per PD II requirement
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of nursing school.
- 2 Years current adult Intensive Care clinical nurse experience in an Acute Care setting.
- California Registered Nurse (RN) - CA Board of Registered Nursing -REQUIRED
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
- ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association -REQUIRED
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) - Various-Employee provides certificate -REQUIRED WITHIN 90 DAYS OF HIRE
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing
- Current CCRN Certification
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Summary
Sharp Chula Vista’s ICU is the largest in the South Bay. Designed as a healing environment with ocean or mountain views from each private patient room as well as a family reflection garden, a soothing color scheme and original artwork to promote reflection and healing, the high acuity 28 bed MICU along with the 7 bed SICU provide comprehensive cardiac and intensive care services. The intensive care units of Sharp Chula Vista provide care for a variety of patient populations, including cardiovascular surgery, IABP, neurosurgery, ICP, stroke, sepsis and shock, multi-system organ failure, renal failure/CRRT, respiratory failure with ventilator management, cardiac emergencies and STEMI/ interventional cardiology. Our ICU nurses participate in the code blue and rapid response teams. We strive to deliver compassionate, patient and family-centered care using evidence-based practices and state-of-the-art techniques.
