Required Qualifications
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association
- California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT I) Certificate - CA Department of Public Health
- 6 months Phlebotomy experience in a clinical lab
- Equipment management Utilizes all equipment (including phone, copier, fax, etc.), instruments, products, and other tools per manufacturer's and training instructions and according to established procedures; facilitates issue resolution. Demonstrates competency and efficient use of all tool applications (IS, PC, other system/software) and equipment to produce the end product. Performs and validates required preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment/tools. Reports and documents equipment/tool/reagent issues and failures. Actively manages inventory expiration dates and demonstrates ability to evaluate consumables (reagent/supply) inventory to prevent shortages; alerts ordering personnel. Removes defective equipment from use, documents problem, and notifies appropriate personnel for repair; verifies equipment inspections are up-to-date. Follows through on problem resolution. Verifies equipment safety inspections are up-to-date.
- Quality assurance Coordinates and completes processes to meet standards established to maintain quality testing, including collaboration and engagement in continuous improvement of processes. Completes and validates daily position tasks within expected timeframes to meet QA indicator goal expectations. Identifies errors and follows-through with investigation, correction, documentation, and notification to appropriate caregiver and lab leadership. Demonstrates process of self-discovery, including knowledge of strengths and weaknesses and views deficiencies as opportunities for growth; sets goals for self-improvement. Communicates clearly using tools Closed Loop and SBAR. Receives feedback well and provides thoughtful feedback to others. Proactively and appropriately notifies caregiver when delays may result in not meeting expected turn-around-times for specimen collection, processing and testing processes.
- Specimen collection process Completes specimen collection processes without error using written policies, procedures and other appropriate resources; identifies issues in policies or procedures. Performs new procedures and policies within acceptable training time intervals; meets department turnaround time goals. Documents activities and results consistently, thoroughly and legibly; proof reads and double checks own work to minimize errors to achieve zero defects and zero harm. Performs patient reception, sample collection, processing and may assist with analytical procedures and demonstrates assessment of testing factors with regard to patient age and population specific groups. Evaluates work performed for accuracy and verifies any questionable findings with thorough investigation and appropriate follow through and seeks supervisory assistance and guidance as appropriate. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Salary : $43
