Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hematology Supervisor to lead our clinical and research laboratory teams. The ideal candidate will oversee hematology testing processes, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and maintain high-quality laboratory operations. The Hematology Supervisor will be responsible for managing laboratory staff, overseeing assay performance, and ensuring accurate data collection and reporting in accordance with industry best practices. Day shift with a weekend and holiday rotation.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily laboratory operations related to hematology testing, including blood sampling, venipuncture, and specimen collection/processing
- Oversee the execution of hematology assays such as ELISA, PCR, flow cytometry, immunoassays, and other laboratory techniques
- Ensure adherence to quality control (QA/QC) protocols and quality assurance standards to maintain accuracy and reliability of test results
- Manage laboratory documentation, data management systems, and specimen tracking using document management systems and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
- Coordinate schedule management for laboratory personnel to optimize workflow efficiency
- Implement compliance management practices in accordance with regulatory agencies’ standards (e.g., CLIA, CAP)
- Lead research activities including clinical trials involving hematology assays and physiological studies
- Supervise staff training on laboratory procedures, aseptic techniques, blood sampling, phlebotomy, and specimen processing
- Oversee laboratory safety protocols, including aseptic technique and infection control measures
- Analyze data collected from various assays to support clinical decision-making and research objectives
- Monitor laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration to ensure optimal performance
- Facilitate communication between clinical teams and research staff regarding specimen handling, analysis results, and documentation
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Extensive clinical laboratory experience with a focus on blood banking or transfusion services.
- Extensive knowledge of hematology techniques including ELISA, RNA extraction, DNA isolation, PCR, flow cytometry, immunoassays, blood sampling, venipuncture, vital signs measurement, and laboratory procedures
- Strong understanding of clinical laboratory operations within hospital or research settings with experience in clinical trials or medical research laboratories
- Proven leadership skills with supervising experience in a laboratory environment; capable of managing teams effectively
- Proficiency in laboratory information management systems (LIMS), document management systems, schedule management tools, and data collection software
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail for quality control/assurance processes and assay validation
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge related to physiology studies, compliance management standards, QA/QC protocols, and laboratory techniques
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance
- Strong communication skills for effective team leadership and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
