Job Summary
Fabricators create and assemble components or finished products using raw materials, tools, and machinery. They interpret technical drawings, measure and cut materials, and ensure products meet quality standards. Fabricators work with precision to produce items ranging from structural frameworks to intricate machinery parts, often in industries like manufacturing, construction, or metalworking.
Key Responsibilities
- Reading and Interpreting Blueprints: Understand technical drawings, schematics, or specifications to determine material requirements and assembly instructions.
- Supervision: Oversight and supervision of projects
- Material Preparation: Measure, cut, shape, and form materials (e.g., steel, aluminum, plastic) using tools like saws, shears, presses,
- Welding and Joining: Perform welding (e.g., MIG, TIG, stick), brazing, or fastening to assemble parts, ensuring strong and accurate connections.
- Machinery Operation: Operate fabrication equipment such as lathes, milling machines, plasma cutters, or bending machines safely and efficiently.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products for defects, ensuring they meet specifications and industry standards. Use precision tools like calipers or micrometers to verify dimensions.
- Assembly: Assemble components into final products, ensuring proper alignment and functionality.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on tools and machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Safety Compliance: Follow workplace safety protocols, including wearing protective gear and adhering to OSHA or industry-specific regulations.

Skills and Qualifications

- Welding Expertise: Knowledge of welding techniques (MIG, TIG, arc welding) and certifications (e.g., AWS certification) may be required.

- Physical Stamina: Capable of standing for long periods, lifting heavy materials (up to 50 lbs or more), and performing repetitive tasks.
