Who we are:
Founded in 2010, Share the Harvest Farm is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting food insecurity on the East End of Long Island by growing and donating high-quality, organically grown produce to local food pantries, senior housing, shelters, and community partners.
To support this mission, we operate a roadside farm stand offering fresh, seasonal produce from our farm and other local farms, alongside thoughtfully curated goods from over 60 local East End producers. Our farm stand is both a community hub and an extension of our mission, and we are looking for enthusiastic, reliable individuals who enjoy food, people, and meaningful work.
Job Description:
Farm Stand Associates support the daily operations of our seasonal farm stand. This is a customer-facing role that blends retail, food, and farm work, with opportunities for creativity and hands-on engagement. Associates help create a welcoming environment for customers while ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, values local food, and takes pride in creating a warm, organized, and beautiful retail space.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet, assist, and engage customers with warmth and professionalism
- Process cash, credit, and debit transactions accurately
- Set up, stock, and restock produce and product displays
- Process and pack produce for sale and donation
- Receive deliveries and rotate inventory
- Create signage, displays, and farm-fresh flower bouquets
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing stand
- Assist with opening and closing procedures
- Pick up produce from the farm as needed
- Water plants and support general stand upkeep
Some candidates may also have the opportunity to assist with light farm work, including harvesting, depending on interest and availability.
Qualifications:
- Friendly, reliable, and customer-focused
- Interest in fresh produce, local food, and community-based work
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable handling point-of-sale systems
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must have reliable transportation and housing
Schedule and Season:
Season runs from mid-May through mid-September or October
Farm stand is open Thursday through Sunday
Half-day and full-day shifts available
