Athea Laboratories, a leader in specialty chemical product manufacturing, is seeking a Regional Sales Manager. This position is located at the Athea-Cornell: 1900 W. Cornell St. facility with 25% travel.
Job Summary: This position is responsible for maintaining and growing a large portfolio of existing customers. This person develops new prospects and increases sales of our extensive line of chemicals related to the specialty chemical, janitorial, sanitation, and contract packaging marketplaces. This person directly manages new and existing customer relationships and projects. The multi-state territory requires travel by airplane and automobile.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide support to customers in person, over the phone, and through email
- Increasing share of customer’s spend to grow territory
- New customer development/cold calling to grow territory
- Carrying out internal processes associated with customers’ needs
- Ongoing development of intimate and expert product-line knowledge
- Additional duties or special projects as requested or necessary
- Checking shipping status of orders
- Communicating pricing to customers
- In conjunction with the Quality department, handling customer complaints
- 25% travel for onsite customer visits, support, and trade shows
Requirements:
- College degree or equivalent education or experience
- A minimum of 1-2 years of inside or outside selling
- Experience in the industrial or chemical marketplaces is a plus
- The ability to strategically analyze a territory and work with limited supervision
- The ability to sell creatively, and recognize potential new opportunities
- Track record of growth and accountability
- The ability to effectively communicate at all levels of an organization
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficient negotiation, persuasion, active listening, and social perceptiveness skills
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (e.g., eye protection)
Compensation: Up to $60,000 base salary (based on experience), with commission opportunities bringing total earnings to $90,000
