Job Summary
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Workers (DSWs) to join our team in multiple locations, Maurice, Youngsville, and Lafayette. This role offers both full-time and part-time opportunities to provide vital support to individuals with diverse needs. As a DSW, you will play a key role in empowering individuals with disabilities to live fulfilling lives by assisting with daily activities, fostering independence, and promoting positive behavioral health. Duties
- Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, and cognitive disabilities in home and community settings
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration as needed
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and reduce challenging behaviors
- Support communication efforts, including the use of American Sign Language when applicable, to enhance understanding and interaction
- Collect data on progress, behaviors, and service outcomes to inform care plans and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Facilitate social activities, community outings, and childcare responsibilities to promote social integration and independence
- Maintain accurate documentation of services provided, incidents, and other relevant information for reporting purposes
- Drive clients safely to appointments or community activities while adhering to all safety protocols
Qualifications
- Experience working with individuals with autism, intellectual disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders is highly preferred
- Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health practices
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with clients, families, and team members
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive safely in various conditions
- Familiarity with assisting clients with ADLs and caregiving responsibilities
- Ability to perform data collection accurately and maintain detailed records
- Experience working in home & community care environments or providing caregiving services is a plus
- Certification or training in medication administration or behavioral management is advantageous
