Position Overview:
Shanty Creek Resort is seeking a personable, energetic, and service-driven Golf Professional Intern to join our golf operations team for the 2025 season. This internship offers valuable hands-on experience in the day-to-day guest services and operations of a top-tier, four-season resort with five championship golf courses.
The ideal candidate is pursuing a career in golf management, hospitality, or professional golf and wants to develop skills in customer service, tournament operations, merchandising, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Services Outside Operations:
Greet and assist members and guests with enthusiasm and professionalism
Manage bag drop, cart staging, cleaning, and rotation
Provide course information and assist with tee time flow and pace of play
Deliver exceptional customer service on the driving range, practice areas, and throughout the course
Golf Shop Administration:
Assist with retail operations, including sales, merchandising, restocking, and inventory
Answer phone calls, book tee times, and help with point-of-sale transactions
Learn and utilize golf shop software and tee sheet management systems
Tournament & Event Support:
Help plan and execute tournaments, outings, and member events
Prepare signage, scorecards, cart signs, and assist with pairings and scoring
Work with the Head Golf Professional and team to ensure smooth event flow and high guest satisfaction
Player Development (optional based on experience):
Assist with junior golf camps and clinics
Shadow golf instruction and learn about lesson programming
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a PGA Golf Management, Hospitality, or Recreation program
Passion for golf and interest in pursuing a career in the golf industry
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and early/late shifts
Basic golf knowledge and etiquette required; PGA associate status a plus but not required
Internship Details:
Season: May – September 2025 (flexible based on school schedule)
Compensation: Hourly wage tips (bag handling, range, etc.)
Hours: 35–45 hours/week
