This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining cold heading machinery to produce high-quality fasteners and precision parts while meeting production, safety, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate cold heading machines according to job specifications and production schedules
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and setup sheets
- Perform tooling changes, adjustments, and basic machine troubleshooting
- Monitor production to ensure parts meet quality and dimensional standards
- Conduct regular inspections using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Maintain accurate production and quality documentation
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and keep equipment clean and safe
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, quality, and maintenance teams to meet production goals
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 2–5 years of cold heading or fastener manufacturing experience preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools
- Knowledge of SPC, quality standards, and production reporting
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Must be dependable and able to work 2nd shift consistently
- Experience with multi-die cold headers
- Tooling setup and adjustment experience
- Basic computer skills for production tracking
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
