Job Summary
As an Intern MRI Tech, the Intern will focus on patient safety, is required to function within the parameters of the legal scope of practice and in accordance with the federal, state, and local laws; rules and regulations; and policies, procedures and guidelines of the employing health care institution or practice setting. The Intern MRI Tech is responsible for clerical duties assigned, transporting the patient to and from the department, completing all necessary documentation, and once the patient is in the department may position and prepare equipment for the MRI; depending upon student level of training in the MRI program.
Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions
- Interns will observe several different types of detailed MRI procedures performed on patients.
- Intern will work in collaboration with Radiology team members to enhance patient care.
- Prepares and positions patients.
- Implement MRI protection and safety standards.
- Prepares for and assists the supervising technologist and/or physician in a variety of imaging procedures.
- Functions as a direct patient care giver of non-invasive MRI procedures under the supervision of an assigned Certified Radiologist, MRSO, MRMD, Supervisor, Team lead
- Completes department competencies
- Collects pertinent patient and family data. Documents, and processes data appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates effective time management in prioritizing and delegating the implementation of patient care.
- Demonstrates ability to perform technical skills accurately and within a reasonable time frame.
- Assesses patient care problems and takes appropriate follow-up action only after consulting with his/her Supervisor/Team lead/Assigned team member.
- Participates in the education of patients and those accompanying the patient.
- Practices effective interpersonal skills and utilize the established channels of communication.
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Required
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Six months from graduation or recent graduate from an MRI or ARMRIT Accredited Program
Experience:
Required
- 6 months in an MRI or ARMRIT Accredited Program
Certification/Licensure:
Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS): Must obtain within ninety (90) days of hire
