Job Summary
The Administrative Director of Surgical Services will be responsible for oversight of the perioperative quality improvement program, working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, RNs, and other surgical services staff to develop and implement strategies to improve clinical and surgical outcomes.
Supervises the Following Positions
Positions: All staff assigned to unit.

Working Conditions
Primarily Works in a well-lighted and air-conditioned environment with period of heavy workload and stress. This role may include working in less-than-ideal home conditions, which can include exposure to extreme temperatures and environments that may not meet typical cleanliness standards such as clutter, unkept surfaces, and homes with pets. Works in various conditions.

Performance: Position Specific Essential Functions
- Coordinate Education for the Pre, Post and PACU areas across all surgical locations.
- Project management assistance to support the goals and improve care for the surgical populations This individual will assist with the planning and coordinating of projects as follows:
- Central Sterile Renovation project, assuring that we meet AAMI guidelines.
- Lean Project to reduce OR tray Volumes and enhance storage across surgery
- Assist and coordinate regulatory rounds in each area and assist managers in addressing deficiencies, so the environment of care and infection control practices are elevated.
- Assist managers in completing LEAN projects to improve workflow
- Same Day Surgery Nausea Project
- CS ASAP tray project with GYN Unit
- Main OR Tray reduction project
- Main OR Renovations- Currently looking at coordinating storage space on third floor and plan for additional adding on of ORs, CS, PACU and Same Day Surgery in future.
- Assist with Education and roll out of new consent process across surgery.
- Assist with roll out and consistency for huddle boards in Periop Services
- Individuals will function to assist each area in monitoring and setting goals for quality outcomes.
- Individual with collaborate with Quality Department to promote staff awareness of quality outcomes and metrics.
- Individual will assist with the implementation, development of order sets and processes related to Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Program.
- Individuals will assist in projects to improve Periop efficiency, including staff and physician collaborators.

Qualifications
Education
- Required
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing
Experience:
- Preferred
- Five years of experience in Surgical Nursing
Certification/Licensure:
- Required
- Registered Nurse (RN), with authorization to practice in the State of Texas
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Must obtain within ninety (90) days of start date
- Preferred
- Certification in a Nursing Specialty Area, by an organization recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification
