Overview

This position will perform operations for waste collection, containerization, management and associated functions. In addition, will perform general manual labor tasks associated with industrial/commercial waste management operations.The Technician could be working at several locations and warehouse environments.  Heat, cold, dust.  M-Fri with some Saturdays

1st Shift - Hours Vary

Must be able to travel .

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner
  • Engage in strenuous physical labor including lifting and pulling heavy objects.
  • Operate light and heavy equipment, handles various hand tools and powered industrial tools, works with vibration-producing tools
  • Wear and properly use a variety of personal protective Equipment (PPE). Including negative-pressure respirators, skin, face, hand and foot protection in a multiple number of combinations
  • Must be clean shaven at all times to allow proper fit and seal of respirator.
  • Work In Confined Spaces.
  • Operate light and heavy equipment relating to performing industrial cleaning and site cleanup projects including, but not limited to tank cleanouts, material transfers, spill clean-up, and remediation projects
  • Operate with/on aerial lifts, and other machinery.
  • Ability to perform work inside areas of varying dimensions, involving squatting and crawling for possible extended periods.
  • May be exposed to varying levels of physical activities and physical extremes such as long periods of standing, walking, crouching, use of hands, and heavy lifting of up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Work in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions that could be extreme.
  • Work in atmospheres and locations with the potential for exposure to various chemical and physical agents.
  • Work in potentially elevated noise levels, confined spaces, including lifting in areas of low clearance
  • Climb ladders, scaffolding and into and out of trucks, tanks, and various other containers at elevated heights
  • Safe loading and unloading of waste
  • Exposure to elements including nuisance dust conditions and woodland, streamside, and swampland flora and fauna.
  • Exposure to working around strong smells frequently 
  • Position sometimes requires working on uneven work surfaces frequent pushing/pulling/carrying of equipment/objects/debris of varying and often awkward sizes, shapes, and weights including bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling drums, totes and containers, handling of tank/vac trucks.  This position includes emergency response, a continuing condition of employment is agreeing to be on-call; on occasion working on weekends and holidays will be required; emergency response situations can extend beyond 8 hours, up to 12

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work in all types of weather . 
  • Attention to detail.
  • Safety is primary focus
  • Must have clear and valid Driver's License
  • May occasionally lift up to 50- 75 pounds and frequently lift 40-50 pounds.
  • Frequently climbs ladders, stairs. At heights up to 18ft.
  • Must be able to pass a required DOT Drug Screen, Background Screen.
  • Must be willing to travel for a week or two at a time when needed. 
  • Must be willing to work 50-60 hours weekly.
  • Must be willing to work on weekends ( Saturday and/or Sunday) based off the department needs.
  • Must be willing and able to work 7-days a week, for consecutive weeks, based off the department needs
