What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Siemens NX 5-Axis Programmer (Turbo-Machinery) position at Shamirel?
Title: Senior Siemens NX 5-Axis Programmer (Turbo-Machinery)
Location: Chandler, AZ — On-site only.
Compensation: $75–$100/hr (Full-time)
Citizenship: U.S. Citizenship is required.
About Shamirel
Shamirel is a precision manufacturing and cybersecurity-integrated industrial platform supporting the defense, and aerospace sectors. We specialize in advanced 5-axis machining, serialized components, and prototype development with a strong focus on compliance, traceability, and secure supply chain operations (ITAR, CMMC, AS9100D alignment).
Our facility is equipped with modern 5-axis machining centers and a vertically integrated workflow built for high-complexity aerospace components, including turbo-machinery, propulsion hardware, and R&D-grade precision parts.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Siemens NX 5-Axis Programmer with a background in turbo-machinery, including impellers, blisks, rotors, and multi-blade aerodynamic components.
This is a full-time, on-site engineering/programming role supporting both prototype and low-volume production on modern simultaneous 5-axis platforms. You will work closely with our team to develop robust manufacturing strategies for advanced aerospace components.
This is not a remote or hybrid position, due to ITAR and the collaborative nature of 5-axis development, all work must be performed in-person.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, program, and optimize simultaneous 5-axis toolpaths in Siemens NX CAM for complex turbo-machinery geometries.
- Generate complete machining packages: tool lists, setup documentation, stock models, fixtures, and simulations.
- Work hands-on with machinists and engineers to validate setups, verify toolpaths, and support first-article execution.
- Continuously refine strategies for cycle time, surface finish, and geometric accuracy.
- Support both prototype workflows and repeat production cycles on DN Solutions, DVF-series 5-axis platforms, and our 3-axis platforms.
- Ensure adherence to internal quality standards and ITAR manufacturing requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Expert-level proficiency in Siemens NX CAM (no learning curve).
- 5 years of experience in simultaneous 5-axis programming for precision components.
- Demonstrated experience with turbo-machinery:
- impellers
- blisks
- rotors
- compressor / turbine geometries
- Strong understanding of multi-blade strategies, blade-to-hub transitions, swarf cuts, and surface finishing techniques.
- Ability to collaborate directly with other programmers and machinists on setup, probing, workholding, and in-process adjustments.
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen (ITAR).
- Must be comfortable working in-person, full-time.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DN Solutions DVF-series or similar 5-axis trunnion machines.
- Familiarity with AS9100D, ITAR, or defense manufacturing workflows and CMMC requirements.
- Background in aerospace, propulsion, R&D, or high-complexity machining environments.
Compensation
This role offers $75–$100/hr DOE for an initial 30-day engagement period (1099), focused on evaluating technical alignment, communication pace, and 5-axis programming capability in a production environment.
For the right candidate, this position provides:
- meaningful technical autonomy
- ownership of 5-axis process strategy
- direct influence on prototype and production workflows
- the opportunity to help build a best-in-class turbo-machinery manufacturing cell
How to Apply
Please submit the following to info@shamirel.com:
- Resume
- Examples or screenshots of Siemens NX 5-axis work (non-ITAR only)
- Brief summary of turbo-machinery experience (impellers, blisks, rotors, etc.)
- Availability and desired rate
Incomplete submissions cannot be considered.
